BANNOCK COUNTY IS NOW OPERATING ON IT'S WIDE AREA 700MHz TRUNKED RADIO SYSTEM CALL SIGN IS WQFC669
The Bannock County Emergency 911 System is just that--a system.
It incorporates three totally independent agencies. They
are the Bannock County Sheriff's Department, the City of Pocatello Police
Department, and the City of Chubbuck Police Department.
Each agency has it's own dispatch center, but each dispatch
center is linked together with high speed data lines (T1 or T.L.S.), and
all three agencies share the same computer system with various access rights
to the same data base. This mean that all information, except information
that any agency may choose to "hide" is available for inquiry
by all agencies. This computer system is part of Bannock Counties frame
relay service. Other users such as the courts and Prosecutor's office have
access to specific information to aid them in their various tasks. The
system also has a GEO based computer aided dispatch module that allows
all dispatchers to see all dispatched activity within Bannock County. All
agencies Enhanced 911 data lines are tied into the computer system so any
911 call that is made becomes part of the systems data base, and is displayed
on the dispatch centers computer screen.
The largest advantage of having three redundant dispatch
centers is that if any of the three centers should go down, all dispatch
data and activity can be moved to any of the remaining centers, and of
course if two centers go down the remaining center will handle all dispatch
activity.
If you would like to see more specific information about any of the dispatch centers just click on it's Icon at the top of this page.
